Interoperability¶
This page lists third-party software and services that Flowgate has been exercised against, with the date each result was recorded. An entry appears here only after a real, recorded validation session; absence from this list means not yet validated, not incompatible.
OPC UA clients (connecting to Flowgate's embedded server)¶
| Client | Validated | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Unified Automation UaExpert | Ongoing, most recently 2026-08 | Browse, subscriptions, reads and writes, certificate trust flows, and file download from the node's log surface. Used routinely during Flowgate development. |
| Flowgate's own validation client | Continuous | An automated OPC UA test client exercises every release against the permanent validation chain: browse, subscribe, read, write, security and role checks. |
OPC UA servers (Flowgate collecting as a client)¶
| Server | Validated | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Unified Automation C++ demo server | Continuous | The permanent validation chain collects from two instances, one authenticated by username and password, the other by client certificate. The performance soaks on the Performance Baselines page ran against a 100,000 tag address space on this server. |
| Matrikon OPC Simulation (via RetroBridge) | 2026-07 | Full chain validated: OPC Classic DA server, RetroBridge bridge process, OPC UA out, consumed through Flowgate. |
MQTT brokers and cloud services¶
| Service | Validated | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Eclipse Mosquitto 2 | Ongoing since 2026-06-21 | Both directions live: Sparkplug B publishing (birth, data, rebirth on request) and JSON publishing, plus subscribe side collection. Also exercised by the automated integration suite on every release. |
| Azure IoT Hub | 2026-08-20 | Live device to cloud publishing with SAS token authentication, over TLS on port 8883 and over WebSocket on port 443, including token renewal across reconnects and correct refusal of a wrong key. |
| AWS IoT Core | 2026-08-14 | Live device to cloud publishing with X.509 mutual TLS, certificates managed through the Flowgate console. Compressed (gzip) publishing validated 2026-08-19. |
Kafka¶
| Service | Validated | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Apache Kafka 4.3.1 (KRaft) | 2026-07-05 | Live produce and consume against a real broker: federated tag data published with tag keyed partitioning, then consumed and decoded back into the pipeline. Also covered by an automated integration test against a real broker. |
Field devices and classic servers (via RetroBridge)¶
RetroBridge carries the classic and field protocol validations. The Matrikon OPC Classic DA chain above is the recorded end to end result. Modbus TCP runs live against a simulated Modbus device in the validation lab, including a seeded value comparison test. The Emerson ROC Plus and DNP3 drivers are validated against protocol-exact simulated devices in the automated test suite. Results against physical field hardware will be added here as they are recorded.
How to read the dates
"Continuous" and "ongoing" mean the integration is part of the permanent validation setup and is exercised on every release. A single date records a dedicated live validation session against the real external service on that day.
